Common Sense REBORN Devotion

October 18

27“Then you will know that I am in Israel,

that I am the Lord your God,

and that there is no other;

never again will my people be shamed.”  (Joel 2:27)

Good morning Family.  I hope you had a nice peaceful weekend.  I was struggling with what to share with y’all.  It was a bit of a long weekend, people acting foolish all over Savannah.  Intoxicated drivers causing all kinds of chaos, two shootings in downtown, and then dealing with the current trend where everyone thinks they are a sidewalk lawyer.  Despite the evil trying to rear its ugly head, God’s hand was on the city and kept those who love and stand with Him perfectly safe.  I’ll share a bizarre story with y’all tomorrow.

But for today, I just want to pause and reflect on the life of the General, former Joint Chiefs of Staff, former Secretary of State, barrier breaker, American Dream in the flesh, legend:  the great Colin Powell.  General Powell, despite reaching a level very few ever achieve as a 4-Star General and serving in the United States Army for a staggering 35-years, never stopped serving his country.  I was always hoping he would run for President, but, unfortunately, his time on Earth is done.  He will be a leader in God’s Army from this day forward.  Thank you for your service, General Powell, thank you for being the inspiration our country desperately needed.  I hope many more follow your exemplary example.  He’s been called homeward and the Heavenly Host is throwing him a magnificent party in Heaven.

I want to share new music from a familiar voice.  Mr. Benjamin Hastings, of Hillsong fame, is releasing stand alone work and his first two singles are pretty incredible.  Today’s Song of the Day, Homeward, is a beautiful melody to remind us that our time on Earth is just temporary, and we are all waiting for the moment Jesus calls us home.

Reading plan:  1 Peter 3:13-22
