5Then will the eyes of the blind be opened
and the ears of the deaf unstopped.
6Then will the lame leap like a deer,
and the mute tongue shout for joy. (Isaiah 35:5, 6)
Happy Monday Friends! I hope y’all had a good weekend. I was back to old habits this weekend. My wife and I went out with co-workers enjoying the revelry of historic Savannah without our kids, so that meant staying out much later than we usually do. The city was alive and vibrant. We spent Saturday with family, did some good serving at our church Sunday, and ended the weekend taking our kids to see the latest Marvel offering. So when I sat down to catch up on my reading, I realized how far I had fallen behind in the Old Testament. I had not cracked open my Bible since Wednesday. I was able to spend some time reading, and got caught up, but it was a stark reminder of how easily I was able to push God to the side and spend a weekend far from His presence.
Luckily for a sinner like me, God is always there when I come back to Him. The challenge for all of us is to let God live in every moment of our lives, not just the ones where we need Him, or when it fits our lifestyle. We need to get to the point where our Human Nature is living and breathing the presence and influence of Jesus in everything we do. Brandon Heath’s latest single sings this truth in much better words than I can, so give it a listen below.
