Common Sense REBORN Devotion

I decided to skip writing something new from the old (the Old Testament) today, so what you read below is straight from the print version of CSRDD2021. Our OT reading was just one prophecy after another from Isaiah, dooming all the cultures in the area. So instead, here’s something a little more uplifting. If you have the print version, just skip to the end and listen to the amazing song I am sharing from an up-and-coming future superstar in the Christian Music Scene: Ms. Hannah Schaefer.

July 14

19Having lost all sensitivity, they have given themselves over to sensuality so as to indulge in every kind of impurity, and they are full of greed.

20That, however, is not the way of life you learned 21when you heard about Christ and were taught in him in accordance with the truth that is in Jesus.  22You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; 23to be made new in the attitude of your minds; 24and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.  (Ephesians 4:19-24)

I often wonder how I would have turned out had God not stepped in and flipped my life upside down.  I was quickly losing all my sensitivity, indulging in all kinds of impurities.  Then God put a sweet, wholesome young lady in my life, who, despite my best intentions, was able to keep me from corrupting her into my wild ways.  And then God blessed us with our daughter and the rest is history.  I commend these young generations who know the truth and walk in the light from their teens into adulthood.  I was so lost as a youth.  I knew who God and Jesus were, but I did not KNOW them.  Now I feel like I understand the truth of the Word, and the truth of life, and I want to share it with the world, which is why we are here.

What are you going to do now that you have heard about Christ and have been taught the truth that is in Jesus?  Whatever you do, do not keep it to yourself.  Thanks to social media, we all have our own personal mountains.  Get to the top and start singing!

Reading plan:  Ephesians 5:1-20
