Common Sense REBORN Devotion

July 13

4The oppressor will come to an end,

and destruction will cease;

the aggressor will vanish from the land.

5In love a throne will be established;

in faithfulness a man will sit on it-

one from the house of David-

one who in judging seeks justice

and spread the cause of righteousness.  (Isaiah 16:4, 5)

Greetings Friends and Family.  These two verses are one reference of many where Isaiah properly prophesices the coming of Jesus Christ, the only man in the whole Bible to establish a throne of love.  Yesterday, we read a verse about God punishing the world for its evil.  Well, God had done that enough and mankind continued to return to sin, so at just the right moment in human history, God sent His only Son to offer salvation in the simplest form:  Love God and Love People.  This root of “the stump of Jesse”(Isaiah 11:1) fulfilled all the prophecies like the one above and Jesus established His throne forever.  His teachings, message, and truth are the way and the life that spread the cause of righteousness throughout the entire world, a message that still shapes our society today.

Many Christians understand the Truth of Jesus Christ, but many use the guise of being a “Christian” to promote their agendas.  One of my favorite Christian theologians has been having very powerful and important conversations with the author of the book, “Jesus and John Wayne.”  Skye Jethani and Kristin Kobes Du Mez break down Mrs. Du Mez’s analysis of American culture over the last seventy years, in a current special podcast by The Holy Post.   Mrs. Du Mez accurately explains how white evangelism has tainted the Christian faith and just six months ago, this year, sought to splinter America as they stormed our Capitol.  Click on the image below to listen to episode one of The Holy Post’s, “Jesus and John Wayne.”  You can find episode two by clicking here, and episode three here.  Episode four releases this Friday.

As I stated Friday, there were a lot of great new singles released in Christian Music, and I’ll try to share my favorites in the next few days.  For today, here is the latest masterpiece from Hillsong United, the first single released since they ruled the airwaves last year with “Another in the Fire.”  Like every release, this one is pure gold.  Click the image below to hear for yourself.
