CSR Daily Devotion

Happy December 1 friends! Only 25 short days until we celebrate the birth of the baby who changed the world. For King & Country said it best on their newest Christmas masterpiece. Click on the video below to watch.

I tried my best to do a top 25 list of my favorite Christmas songs. But it turned into a top 50 because there are so many great songs on my It’s Christmas playlist. I was a blubbering mess yesterday listening to all these tunes. Which is why I am starting the countdown with this classic from Mandisa:

If you are on Spotify you can see listen to our playlist at any time. I’ll be adding more songs soon because there is a plethora of new Christmas albums out this year. You can find our family playlist on Spotify here. My second song for number #25 is Laura Story‘s “Just Another Christmas,” which is my prayer for all of you: that this year is not just another Christmas. I pray this year the world falls on their knees to worship the miracle of the baby in the manger. For all we have faced in 2020, this year, more than any year in the past two decades, we need to recognize the significance of this day of glory on the calendar. This is the season of celebrating the birth of the baby who changed the world.

December 1

1The revelation from Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show his servants what must soon take place.  He made it known by sending his angel to his servant John, 2who testifies to everything he saw-that is, the word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ.  3Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near.  (Revelation 1:1-3)

The beloved Disciple, powerful Apostle, and blessed prisoner, John, gives the world his final contribution in the Book of Revelation.  Written from a prison cell, John is visited by an angel of the Lord and has the most vivid vision of our victorious end of ages.  One might read this book and be stricken with fear, for all the curses, beasts, earthquakes, and fire, but this is the book that foretells Jesus’ final battle with the devil.  And we see the warrior Jesus, sitting triumphantly upon His white steed.  I love this book and we will have a glorious month exploring all it’s symbolism and majesty.  Many throughout history have dissected this book to try to find a hidden timeline and relate current events to the events of the seven seals, but I will not do that.  I will simply let you enjoy this book for what it is:  the hope of humanity.
