CSR Daily Devotion

Good morning friends! It’s officially Christmas season. We have had a refreshing blast of winter weather in Savannah, GA. I hope it is here to stay! How is the weather where you live?

Danny Gokey‘s 2015 Christmas album, “Christmas Is Here,” is a jazzy, fun, unique mix of classic songs with some originals that have since become classics, like the one below which comes in at #24 on my Top 25 list.

Also tied for #24 is the first timeless Christmas song, “Away in a Manger,” which we will see a few time on this list. Mr. Jeremy Camp did a great version in his holiday album, “Christmas: God With Us.”

December 2

4Grace and peace to you from him who is, and who was, and who is to come, and from the seven spirits before his throne, 5and from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth.  (Revelation 1:4, 5)

Kari Jobe’s Revelation Song is one of my favorite worship songs.  Completely inspired by the words of this book, Ms. Jobe sings:

“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty

Who was and is and is to come.”

That saying, “who was and is and is to come” is written many times in Revelation.  I wanted to highlight it first here, in John’s greeting to readers.  Jesus is the past, the present, and the future.  His majesty, power, and glory will be on full display this entire month.

Reading plan:  Revelation 2

Deeper reading plan:  Haggai 2:1-9

Prayer and meditation:  This month we pray that the world comes together to celebrate the birth of Jesus.  We pray that the miracle of the child in the manger changes this world forever, as it should have nearly 2000 years ago.

Fitness challenge:  Day 93-93 Reps

  1. Hand-release Push-up
  2. Sit-up
  3. Jumping squat
  4. Leg lift
  5. Burpees

Run:  Wednesday is our sprint work-out.  We’ll mix it up this month between ladder work and longer sprints

½ mile warm-up

100, 200, 300, 400, 300, 200, 100 for three rounds

½ mile cool-down
