CSR Daily Devotion

I can’t believe we’re already at another New Music Friday. I barely got through all the songs from last week and there seems to be a plethora of great new music out today! But before we move into my favorite pics from this week, here is one last single that dropped last Friday that I think is worth sharing.

September 25

19Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, 20by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, 21and since we have a great priest over the house of God, 22let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and have our bodies washed with pure water.  23Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.  24And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, 25not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another-and all the more as you see the Day approaching.  (Hebrews 10:19-25)

That first sentence is a doozy, but it hits so many great points.  The blood of Jesus, His eternal sacrifice has split the curtain between us and the “Most Holy Place.”  Jesus is our “great priest” over the house of God.  Because of His sacrifice on the cross we can have “full assurance” of salvation despite our sins and our past.  With that knowledge we need to cling “unswervingly” to that hope and constantly encourage one another toward love and good deeds.  The next part of these verses seems to have been written for times such as when COVID-19 shut down physical church:  even then we should have never given up meeting together.  Although everything moved to online and virtual gatherings, I hope you all were able to find ways to meet and lift one another up.  That practice of encouragement and fellowship is a never-ending task we must follow every day until Jesus returns.  It is our task and purpose.  Don’t get distracted, keep your focus.  Let’s finish this year strong.
