CSR Daily Devotion

Good Morning Friends! I have not posted much in my greetings lately, other than sharing information about our Song-of-the-Day. I am extremely busy right now trying to finalize something special for all of us here. But today, I do want to share a startling fact. I know a lot of negative attention has been put on Law Enforcement lately due to the mistakes and negligence from a handful of questionable officers. Every year the goal in Law Enforcement is to keep the line-of-duty (LOD) deaths below 100 for the year. Well, due mostly to COVID-19, LOD deaths have been extremely high. This week, the nation crossed the 200 LOD death threshold. Currently, the nation has lost 205 sons and daughters, fathers and mothers, brothers and sisters in 2020, and we still have three months to go. So despite what many believe, the majority of police treat the subjects they deal with appropriately every single day, despite the overwhelming danger they face, each and every call, every single traffic stop, every subject questioned. Say a prayer for the families of all these amazing men and women who went to work everyday just wanting to help perfect strangers and make the world a better place. And say a prayer for all those still putting on a badge everyday to help keep their city, town, county, municipality safe from the real evil in the world.

Jordan Feliz‘s song is one of hope and healing.

13By calling this covenant “new,” he has made the first one obsolete, and what is obsolete and outdated will soon disappear.  (Hebrews 8:13)

This verse above is one of the greatest truths of the Bible and the truth I have leaned on ever since reading the entire Bible.  It’s the truth I clung to as I wrote Common Sense Reborn.  The Old Testament was God speaking to the Jewish nation from their beginning until their fall to Babylon.  The laws of the Old Testament were for the specific Abrahamic lineage, a lineage WE did not all descend from.  God used the Israelites to show all of creation His majesty and glory.  But when the Israelites themselves struggled to believe in God, despite all that was done to lift up their nation, God sent Jesus to Earth to set all of mankind free.  And with Jesus, the Old Testament was made obsolete, just as this verse boldly and correctly proclaims.  Our Bible as a Christian really begins on Matthew 1:1.  Learn those truths, learn those laws.  Learn to love God and love everyone else as yourself and you will be set free.
