CSR Daily Devotion

Good Morning Friends! Us in the Savannah area have had our first taste of fall and it’s actually lasted more than one morning! In fact, I woke to a temperature in the high 50’s, which felt refreshingly amazing. I knocked out my running workout early, inspired by the crisp fall air. For today, I’m sharing a song I love from a couple that is new to me, Evan and Eris. The song below was released in Spotify’s New Music Christian playlist and it stood out instantly, not just for it’s beat, melody, and lyrics, but because they sampled part of Pastor Michael Todd‘s “Trading Faith” sermon, which was so good last year, that I’m also sharing that below as well. Enjoy. Have a blessed Tuesday!

If you ever want motivation and have plenty of free time, you should just rewatch the entire Crazy Faith Sermon Series by Transformation Church. Here is a small sampling of that below.

6But in fact the ministry Jesus has received is as superior to theirs as the covenant of which he is mediator is superior to the old one, since the new covenant is established on better promises.

7For if there had been nothing wrong with that first covenant, no place would have been sought for another.  (Hebrews 8:6, 7)

Today and tomorrow are my opening and closing statements to the case I have made in Common Sense Reborn that the Old Testament is just that:  old.  And I am not alone in thinking that; the author of Hebrews boldly states this truth in a time when such a statement could lead to their death.  But as the author wisely and accurately states, if there had been nothing wrong with the first covenant, there would have never been a need for the NEW covenant!

God’s chosen lineage, the people He lifted up to become a mighty nation had struggled from day one to follow the rules, from the 10 Commandments to the numerous Mosaic laws laid down in Leviticus, the Hebrews constantly struggled with sin.  But their greatest sin was they constantly turned away from God.  And then when God sends His only Son to be the shining example of love and humanity, they nailed Him to a cross.  Jesus simplified all the laws into two:  Love God, and love everyone else as you love yourself.  Jesus correctly stated that through these two commandments all the laws would be satisfied.  And He’s right.  Love God, protect creation.  Love people and you will never sin against those you love.  So out with the old, and in with the new!  A new covenant that will never be broken.
