It’s Monday Y’all! Time to get excited to start another week. We’re going to have a great week exploring new music. Today, I wanted to share Josh Baldwin’s newest work, an upbeat, catchy tune that’s perfect to get you up and moving on this Monday morning!
26Such a high priest truly meets our need-one who is holy, blameless, pure, set apart from sinners, exalted above the heavens. 27Unlike the other high priests, he does not need to offer sacrifices day after day, first for his own sins, and then for the sins of the people. He sacrificed for their sins once for all when he offered himself. 28For the law appoints as high priests men in all their weakness; but the oath, which came after the law, appointed the Son, who has been made perfect forever. (Hebrews 7:26-28)
The Hebrews placed a lot of importance and worth on the High Priest. Here was a man groomed for one role in life, being the official mediator for the Jewish people and the Creator of the Universe. The Israelites would bring the High Priest their best cow, sheep, dove, whatever they had, to sacrifice at the altar of the inner chamber. Today it seems like absolute madness that this one man would butcher animal after animal, the altar flooding with blood, the meat cooked and only consumed by the Tabernacle tenants. What a waste. God realized this had to be changed, so He sent Jesus, the pure lamb, the lamb without any blemish, to be a final sacrifice for all of mankind. Now we have a relationship with both God and Jesus and the only sacrifice we have to make is to give ourselves to Jesus and live a righteous life. That may seem like a heavy sacrifice, but it is actually completely liberating. Give it a try today!
