CSR Daily Devotion

16Avoid godless chatter, because those who indulge in it will become more and more ungodly.  17Their teaching will spread like gangrene.(2 Timothy 2:16, 17)

When I think of “godless chatter,” I think of gossip.  Gossip helps no one and when it’s spread around it infects all those who hear it.  This used to be one of my greatest sins and it’s still something I struggle with.  It’s so easy to fall into a conversation and get sucked into talking about other people.  When this happens, think to yourself:  would I want someone saying this about me?  Or if this person were here right now would they benefit from these words and would these words make them feel good?  If the answers are “no” to those questions, then it’s a conversation you shouldn’t be engaging in.  We should lift others up with our words.  Let’s use them for good!

  1. Thanks TZ for that message. It is so easy to get caught up in such, with so much negative speak on the internet and in the media. This message could really help our country if everyone thought about the impact of their words. Will they have a positive or negative impact?
