Happy Monday Friends! It’s the start of our last week in August, I hope you are enjoying Mrs. Z’s devotions, I sure am! I’m starting today off by sharing another amazing sermon from Pastor Steven Furtick.
Continuing his rediscovery of the “woman with the blood issue,” Pastor Furtick shares another beautifully spoken word. To compliment this I will start sharing some of the beautiful songs from Hope Darst‘s debut album: Peace Be Still.
6But godliness with contentment is great gain. 7For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. 8But if we have food and clothing we will be content with that. 9Those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. 10For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs. (1 Timothy 6:6-10)
To me, this is one of the most important truths that Paul expresses in his writings. I used to measure my success, along with the success of others, by how much money I , or they, made. I am not proud of this, and honestly it pains and sickens me to even admit. I thought that being “blessed” meant having expensive, materialistic things and going on extravagant vacations. Honestly being “blessed” is something that comes from within. It’s being content with all that God has provided and being filled with the joy that comes from living for Jesus. Success is merely dedicating your life to Jesus and living out His will for you with the time He’s given you on this Earth. Success is knowing that you’ve shined Jesus’ love on someone and led them to Christ. That, my friends, is something to strive for. When you live for Jesus you become spiritually rich beyond comprehension and that’s the greatest wealthy you can ever hope to attain.
