10Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ. (Galatians 1:10, The Jesus Bible)
Oh my dear friends, Happy Friday. I had the amazing experience of listening to the Holy Post from this week on my way to work yesterday morning. It reminded me quickly why I love that show. Phil Vischer, Skye Jethani, and Christian Taylor opened the show by talking about news from the previous week. Of those stories, the most striking was news of a spontaneous revival that had broken out over the last two weeks at Ashbury University in Wilmore, Kentucky. If you have not heard about this Generation Z driven revival, you should click here. Even the New York Times wrote about this spiritual awakening in the heartland of America.
As if that story was not uplifting enough, the interview that Kaitlyn Schiess has with the great Beth Moore is simply beautiful. From that interview came the verse above. If you want to know the deeper meaning of why this verse is so significant, click the image below and hear for yourself.
As I mentioned yesterday, there was another big album released last Friday and that was the newest work by Skillet. Want a good Christian rock album? Well, Skillet delivered once again. But of all the music released last week, the song below is my favorite. Consumed by Fire’s new single “It’s A Yes” has the lead singer belting out the line, “If it’s a yes in Heaven, it’s a yes on Earth”. From the first time I listened, these words really made me think: there’s not a thing asked of us in Heaven that we would say ‘no’ to. I mean, we would be there, we would know that every hope and belief we had about eternity was true. But what CBF is saying in the song, is that if we would so easily say ‘yes’ in Heaven, why don’t we say it so easily here on earth? Why don’t we listen to what Jesus commanded: Love God, and Love everyone as we love ourselves? Why don’t we all drop what we are doing and flock to a small Christian University that has tapped into the Holy Spirit and ignited a flame of revival in this wayward country? Why don’t we push away all the distractions and read the entire Bible and see the truth in the entire story? Stop saying no to what God is calling you to do, to be, and step into the promise of being a chosen child of God. It’s a yes from me. I hope it is a yes from you as well.
