Those who love their brothers and sisters in Christ of a different ethnicity the way they love themselves are on their way to healing the racial divide. Love heals the hurt. Love undoes injustice. Love is the bridge that connects the disconnected. Love takes a sledgehammer of grace and breaks down the barriers that divide us…
Are you willing to be Jesus’ sledgehammer of grace? (Dr. Gray, Derwin, “How To Heal Our Racial Divide”, pg 130)
Day 145 of Russia’s war with Ukraine. Russian forces hit another civilian target, murdering at least 23 and wounding over a 100 more. This continues to be a horrific conflict that the modern world is just brushing off, even as it has affected the entire planet due to food and fuel supplies being stretched thin without the overly important products that both Ukraine and Russia had been actively supplying to many countries. I continue to bring it to your attention because it could still be the beginning of another World War as Russia attempts to gather support to their cause, and the free world sits by, with the ability to end this conflict, but also with the ability to kick off WWIII if they do so.
But how can we Americans hope to be a global influence when our country is such a hot mess? I finally took an hour to myself and dive back into Dr. Derwin Gray’s amazing book “How To Heal Our Racial Divide”. This week, which has flashed by for me, was the week I was going to be sharing excerpts from Chapter 6. I have crossed the threshold in the book from Part 1 to Part 2. Part 1 explored the Bible and touched on most of the truths I had come to realize on my own by READING the Bible nearly a decade ago, and then further studying that amazing gift to mankind. Chapter 6 marks the beginning of Dr. Gray’s action plan to lead us to a country that will hopefully finally fix our racism problem.
Chapter 6, titled “A Hole In Our Discipleship”, hit pretty hard. I have a lot to share with y’all so we are going to stay on this Chapter for a second week, as my schedule is finally going to open back up starting on Monday. Sorry I did not have much to add this week, but I will have a lot to share with y’all starting Monday, which is unfortunately the next time I’ll be able to post on here.
To help fill your weekend, if you did not take my advice and listen to Pastor Steven Furtick’s word from his glorious return after taking a month off to recharge, click here to get an incredibly inspiring word from this prophet of our time.
Also, I have not been sharing the conversations of the only rational speakers/teachers I listen to, but I have been keeping up with my friends at The Holy Post. They have been spending a lot of time discussing the recent decisions made by the Supreme Court, but there is a powerful discussion that Skye Jethani has at the end of this episode with Matthew Soerens, who is the US Director of Church Mobilization for World Relief. Mr. Soerens just published a new book titled “Inalienable: How Marginalized Kingdom Voices Can Help Save the American Church”. Hopefully just that book title alone is enough to pique your interest to click the image below and hear their intriguing conversation.
I failed in sharing all the amazing new music that was released last week, and I will have to march on next week with today’s new releases. Every song that I have heard while preparing this post has been share worthy, and these tracks just dropped today, so I will try to link those in the upcoming days. My favorite from last week was this new banger from nobigdyl. Click below to hear the ONE WAY, a fresh hip hop gospel song that bumps to my soul.
