Common Sense REBORN Devotion

April 19

I’m choosing to ask, “If I really believed the Spirit of the living God is at home in me, making me a child of God right now, how would I live?”  Can we handle the kind of intimacy described in Scripture?  (Smith, Mandy.  “Unfettered” pg 191)

Day 55 of Russia’s war on Ukraine.  President Zelenskyy has stated that Russia is beginning a major offensive to take the contested eastern parts of Ukraine.  This will be a bloody and dangerous battle as the Ukrainians are not willing to lose this land without a fight.  Pray, pray, pray for the protection of the Ukrainian army, that God puts His hand upon them and strengthens their resolve and lethality against the evil empire of Russia.

I hope you all had an amazing Resurrection Weekend.  Our local church was busy, busy, busy, and it was refreshing to see many new faces.  If you were not able to attend church, you can click the image below to hear Pastor Steven Furtick’s Easter message.  Like nearly all of his sermons in the last three years, this one is amazing.

This is our final week of reading Ms. Mandy Smith’s eloquent book, “Unfettered.”  In her final chapter, Ms. Smith challenges her readers to really look at the way they are living, as she writes in the lines above.  If we, as Christians, truly believe the Spirit of the Living God of Creation is living in our hearts right now, are we living a life worthy of that gift, worthy of His Presence?  Am I loving creation as much as God loves all He has created?  Am I loving all people as much as Jesus loves all people?  Am I caring for the sick, the broken, the lonely, the poor, the widow, and the orphan as Jesus COMMANDED us to?  Or am I just letting my life pass by, distracted by the world, lost in scrolling through social media-looking at everyone else’s life so I do not have to look in the mirror and take a good look at the life I am living.

The Good News is that we are never too far gone.  Snap your fingers.  That is as quickly as WE can change our lives around.  Jesus is waiting for that moment.  He has always been here.  Let’s get to it, snap out of the distractions and clutches of this world and start living for the only one who truly matters, the one who gave it all on the cross just for us.  Click the image below to hear a beautiful reminder of the Good News Jesus is, sung by the power couple of Bryan and Katie Torwalt.
