“We must ask God to give us eyes that can see in the dark so we can perceive his invisible kingdom of light.” (Gray, Derwin. “God, do you hear me?” pg. 23)
Good morning Family! Dr. Derwin Gray opens chapter 2, “Our Father is Loving,” with some stirring perspective: describing life in Israel at the time of Jesus’ birth and adolescence. This was a time when the Roman Empire had spread throughout the modern world and the advancements of humanity were about to come face-to-face with the Creator of Life as Jesus would finally set the entire world free. Well, despite Jesus sacrificing His life for all mankind, the world remains lost and the battle between light and darkness rages on every single day. As you read in chapter 2, despite mankind’s incessant desire to pursue the darkness, our Creator and our Savior both love us more than we could ever imagine. Dr. Gray uses chapter 2 to teach his readers just how deep the love of God and Jesus is for us.
Staying true to form, this week’s episode of The Holy Post is another important discussion to listen to that will continue to aide your growth in 2022. Skye Jethani interviews Michael F. Bird, “a leading academic on New Testament studies and Christian Theology. He is Lecturer in Theology at Ridley College in Melbourne, Australia. (Amazon.com)” Their discussion of Bird’s book “Seven Things I Wish Christians Knew About the Bible” made me very interested in that book. Might be a future addition to this book club. We’ll see how this year goes. You can hear their entire interview by clicking the link below.
I am going to try my best to post on here six days a week, taking Sundays off for worship, family, and rest. Since we are studying a book I am 95% sure most on here are not reading, I want to continue to share as much as I can, in hopes you’ll pick up your own copy, or at least get enough from this blog to learn something new from our amazing reading list. And if this year is anything like last Friday, I’ll need to get on here as much as possible to share all the amazing new music coming out of the Christian Worship/Contemporary genres. Here is a great new anthem from Influence Music. I wrote it a few days ago: I feel a revival sweeping the land, and it seems like this great music group is tuned into the same Holy Spirit “Coming Awake!”
