Common Sense REBORN Devotion

December 31-New Year’s Eve

18Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.  19Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.  And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”  (Matthew 28:18-20)

You have put in a lot of work this year.  You have sacrificed a lot of personal time to dive into the Bible and follow this devotion.  You should be extremely proud of yourself for all you have achieved.  And if we did our job right, you realize that the work is far from over.  We’ve got a country to save, and then an entire planet that remains lost, centuries after the Son of God came to set them free.  So enjoy the evening.  Celebrate the end of this crazy year, and get some rest.  In the morning we’re rolling up our sleeves and going to work.

Planning on staying in this NYE? Well, I highly, HIGHLY recommend watching Elevation Church’s Praise Party. We have watched it before and it’s an amazing experience.

Speaking of Elevation Church, their worship team put together what I consider the best album of 2021: “Old Church Basement.” With the vocal talents of Dante Bowe, Brandon Lake, and Maverick City Music, this worship masterpiece will be a classic for years to come. In fact, three of my top four singles are all tied with my top four songs off EW’s album. Click the image below to hear the entire album in its full glory.

My Top #20 Singles of 2021-The Final Four (okay it’s really 8 because narrowing this list to just four best songs was impossible):

#4. “Weathered” – Bethel Music, Dante Bowe/ “Mercy” – Elevation Worship

#3. “1,000 Names” – Sean Curran/ “Holy Spirit Come” – Patrick Mayberry

#2. “It’s Always Been You” – Phil Wickham/ “Come Again” – Elevation Worship

#1. “Sure Thing” – Hillsong UNITED / “Build Your Church” – Elevation Worship

Once again, Hillsong UNITED released the perfect song for the season (last year’s “Another in the Fire” was my no.1). This song dropped in the fall and quickly became my favorite melody of the year. In 2022, I pray you all build your life on the one sure thing, the solid rock that is Jesus Christ.
