December 16
10“And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and supplication. They will look on me, the one they have pierced, and they will mourn for him as one mourns for an only child and grieve bitterly for him as one grieves for a firstborn son.” (Zechariah 12:10)
Day #3 of impulsive compassion.
My hats off to organizers of all these major relief organizations. Sure it is their full-time job, but it’s so hard to constantly ask people to give and give and give. I’m here to do the same to y’all again. The GoFundMe is far from complete, so again, I ask every beating heart reading this, if you have not donated, please click the link below and just donate $5 to this cause. That is all we are asking. And while I am a little worried about the current level of this fund, there is that other part of me, that blessed arrogance, that God is going to perform a miracle. He’s already done it every. Single. Day. First it was the breakthrough with my work, and every heartfelt response we have had since pushing out the initial email, detailing our intentions to send a truck full of donations to Kentucky. Now today, when I thought that I was going to have to seek other outlets for a church, our home church finally blasted out their own announcement. Our two main donors are in place. The City of Savannah Police Department and the amazing Compassion Christian Church. I would love, love to say the main mode of transportation was funded by my family and friends here. We can do this. Be a part of this miracle in the making. I can not wait to see this through and share every beautiful moment with y’all.
This song has been one of my favorites all year, and the message hits a little harder lately. Oh and that verse above. Well, that was the prophet Zechariah speaking of the prophecy of Jesus, who would be “the one they have pierced,” when the Roman guard stabbed His side upon the cross. The story’s not over, you still have a part to play. Close your eyes, breath it in and let the Spirit lead you.
