Family and Friends. The tumultuous year of 2020 has come to an end. Humanities resolve has been tested like never before in recent times. We all knew 2020 would be a historic year just because of the significance of those numbers, but no one could have predicted how significant this year would be for history. I pray we close out this lap around the sun with calm, peace, and healing.
I thank you to those who have followed this blog all year. I hope you got something out of it. I hope it moved you to grow closer to God. I hope it challenged you to be as involved in your church and community as you could be. And I hope you took the time to read the Bible, cover-to-cover. If not, you are in luck, because we are starting it all over tomorrow!
If you are like my family and planning on spending NYE at home, I suggest you tune into the live broadcast of Passion 2021. You can find it by clicking here. I promise you, you will enjoy every minute of this program. Starts at 4 PM Eastern time and runs to 1 AM! Led by Atlanta’s culture changing church, Passion City’s pastor, Louie Giglio and his wife, these two bring an all-star lineup of Christian speakers and musicians to Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
And here is the end of my favorite songs of 2020. This was an absolutely incredible year of Christian music, which should be expected. I can not wait to see what they bring to the table in 2021. And don’t worry, I’ll still be sharing all my favorites as they are released during our “Welcome To Our Table” weekly recaps.
2. Bethel Music/Melissa Helser: Revival’s in the Air-I love this song for the “Irish” feel I get from the fiddle work. And I felt like the words of this one spoke truth like none other this year: revival’s in the air. Catch it if you can!
- Hillsong United: Another in the Fire – while this song originally came out in 2019 with their album “People,” this mega-talented worship team put together a video that captures 2020 better than any other music medium I have seen. And the video is book-ended with clips from Passion 2020 and a great preview of what to expect tonight, without the sold out arena.
December 31-New Year’s Eve
18Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Matthew 28:18-20)
You have put a lot of work in this year. You have sacrificed a lot of personal time to dive into the Bible and follow this devotion. You should be extremely proud of yourself for all you have achieved. And if we did our job right, you realize that the work is far from over. We’ve got a country to save, and then an entire planet that remains lost, centuries after the Son of God came to set them free. So enjoy the evening. Celebrate the end of this crazy year, and get some rest. In the morning we’re rolling up our sleeves and going to work.
Prayer and meditation: My only prayer is that you have been forever changed by this journey, in your spiritual life, your fitness, and your servitude. I pray for you and this next year, that you move from being a disciple to an Apostle for Christ.
Fitness challenge: 15 minute AMRAP of your five favorite exercises. You don’t need me to tell you what to do, have fun, stay fit, get strong.
NYE fun run: This is you last run of the year, pick your distance, go have fun!
Happy NYE brother!
