CSR Daily Devotion

Well, the votes have been cast, the count is being tallied as I type, and all we know for sure is that nothing has changed. We are a country nearly equally divided. Common sense only seems to exist in half the country, the other half continues to live in madness. Here we have a President wanting to stop the Election with the Supreme Court, and half America supports this craziness. Much like the last four years, this election has already become a corrupt debacle of our democracy disappearing before our eyes.

November 4

3We know that we have come to know him if we keep his commands.  4Whoever says, “I know him,” but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in that person.  5But if anyone obeys his word, love for God is truly made complete in them.  This is how we know we are in him:  6Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did. (1 John 2:3-6)

When you read this, don’t mistake “his commands” for His “Commandments.”  While following the 10 Commandments will surely help you live a good life, Jesus came to make those old laws just that, old.  He gave two simple commands:  Love God above all else, and love all people as you love yourself.  That is what John is referring to when he says he needs to keep his commands.  This is how we know we are in Christ.  This is how Jesus lived, so this is how we can live in Him.

Prayer and meditation:  Today we thank God for the trees, and the miraculous work they do cleaning our air, providing shade, and being a vital part of our ecosystem.  Pray for common sense to infect the minds of all of America and we respect the results of our election process.  Pray for peace, pray for calm.  Pray the revival in your heart overflows to all those around you.
