CSR Daily Devotion

Happy Thursday Y’all! Welp, just a word of warning, you might want to keep some tissues nearby if you choose to watch the sermon I am sharing from our local church this past weekend. The intro to the sermon is very insightful, very moving, and extremely humbling. To have faith like the Garrett Family, that’s my goal in life.

Later on in the sermon, Pastor Harrison challenges his congregation to write their own eulogy. Is the story of your life everything you had hoped it would be? If you were to die today, would the clergy that spoke at your funeral have an easy time talking about what an amazing person you are and what a Christ-like life you lived? If not, what’s stopping you from rewriting that story today?

Just take a quick look at the “About” page from the artist I am sharing below. Travis Cottrell may not be a familiar name to you, but I can assure you, by the life he has lived glorifying Jesus, his name is famous in Heaven. That’s what I want to be: famous in Heaven. I could care less what the world thinks of me, I just want to spend eternity with my family in the presence of the King, the King of Glory.

October 29

3His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.  4Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.  (2 Peter 1:3, 4)

Peter writes his second letter with a lot of foreboding of the coming return of Christ and the constant battle between good and evil we all face each and every day.  Peter makes a point in this first chapter to point out that God has given us EVERYTHING we need for a godly life.  The truth has always been available to you, you have just pushed it aside until this year.  Now that you have learned the truth, now that you have tasted the power of righteousness, if you chose to allow evil into your life, you do so on your own accord, and you can only blame yourself.  As we saw this month, God does not tempt us.  He has always been the great and precious promise.  You have crossed the line in the sand.  There is no going back now.
