Good morning Friends! If you were following this blog back when America was shut down, you may have remembered I was sharing a different church sermon almost every day of the week. My wife and I were spending our Sundays off watching at least three different churches, sometimes more. It got to a point where we were watching too much church. So we went back to just focusing on our favorite: Elevation Church; and our local church: Compassion. I caught y’all up on Elevation’s latest sermons the last few days, now, if you have time, I wanted to share a great new series our pastor is covering called Heaven Bound. This first sermon will only take 40 minutes out of your day, but it might give you a whole new perspective on one of life’s greatest mysteries: what will Heaven be like?
I also wanted to share Mrs. Kari Jobe’s latest release, Your Nature. By the time her full album comes out at the end of the month, I think we’ll have listened to every track on it. For those who read these messages through email, I apologize WordPress took out the images and just embedded the links. Click below and enjoy!
October 15
13Who is wise and understanding among you? Let them show it by their good life, by deed done in the humility that comes from wisdom. 14But if you harbor bitter envy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast about it or deny the truth. 15Such “wisdom” does not come down from heaven but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic. 16For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice.
17But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. 18Peacemakers who sow in peace reap a harvest of righteousness. (James 3:13-18)
James offers some sound advice here to determine where heavenly wisdom or truth comes from. If it is not “pure, peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial, or sincere” it is not from above. So when you are looking for wise counsel, if it does not meet the requirements above, move on and find some enlightenment somewhere else!
