CSR Daily Devotion

We The Kingdom just moved up to quite possibly my top three Christian bands with this “World Version” video they released yesterday. A beautiful collection of many different languages all singing out to the truth: that God so LOVED the ENTIRE world, that He gave His one and only SON.

12Speak and act as those who are going to be judged by the law that gives freedom, 13because judgment without mercy will be shown to anyone who has not been merciful. Mercy triumphs over judgment. (James 2:12-13)

When James refers to the “law that gives freedom,” he is referring to the law as preached by Jesus Christ.  The law from the Old Testament provided anything but freedom.  It was rigid, strict, conclusive, and pushed God’s chosen people away from Him generation after generation.  Jesus came and set the world free with love, compassion, and as James points out here, mercy.  Before you pass judgment, before you condemn the sinner, start with mercy and see where that gets you.
