CSR Daily Devotion

I had some technical issues this morning. I think we must have had a tower down because our cellular and WiFi were out at the same time, so I am going to push this post through quickly in this window of opportunity. Technology is amazing until it stops working. But I was given some good, distraction free time to finish reading Revelation. I hope to have the 2020 devotions wrapped up this week and a 2021 print edition available by the end of the month! May you all have a blessed day! Rise up!

Somehow I missed this song when it initially dropped back in March, but it’s one of my favorites right now!

14Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess.  15For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are-yet he did not sin.  16Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.  (Hebrews 4:14-16)

Here again the author of Hebrews references Jesus as the high priest.  This reference is significant because it shows us again that Jesus is unlike any high priest the Hebrew nation had ever known.  While most high priests lived in the Tabernacle, living a solitary life of little interaction with the population, Jesus was one of us.  He entered the world just as we all do, an innocent baby, and was surely tempted throughout His youth to sin, but He never sinned, as these verses point out.  Yet despite Jesus being strong enough to resist any temptation or urge to sin, He offers us grace for our sins.  What an incredible gift that is!  And this gift is one we can approach God’s throne confidently, knowing that no matter how great our sin is, or how long we have been trapped living a life away from God and Jesus, their mercy and grace never fades, never ends.  The gift of Jesus’ love and forgiveness is available for you today, tomorrow, or 100 years from now.  Just don’t take it for granted, and don’t waste any time.  Make today the day you boldly fall at the feet of God and Jesus and accept the gift they have waiting for you.
