CSR Daily Devotion

Today, for our Worship song, I wanted to share this recently uploaded music video from Hillsong United. It’s an older song, but one of my favorites, and this live version is beautiful.

August 1

8The Lord’s message rang out from you not only in Macedonia and Achaia-your faith in God has become known everywhere.  Therefore we do not need to say anything about it, 9for they themselves report what kind of reception you gave us.  They tell how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God, 10and to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead-Jesus, who rescues us from the coming wrath.  (1 Thessalonians 1:8-10)

How do you feel about history?  Are you like I was in my  younger days, when I despised history?  I thought what was in the past is in the past, why pay it any attention?  Then as I finished high school and began to live and be a part of the big world, I slowly began to realize how beautiful history is.  Now, living just down the road from one of the most historical cities in America:  Savannah, GA, I cherish and protect history.  In case you have not noticed, time, the universe marches on, with or without you.  Our lives are as numerous as the stars in the sky.  Are you living a life worthy of history? Are you like the first Christian church in Thessalonica, who’s “faith in God has become known everywhere?”

2020 has presented us with exactly what we expected it to:  a milestone year in the history of mankind.  Of course, no one expected 2020 to be this type of history, where humanity was reminded of their mortality, society was held responsible for their actions, and the truth of our purpose locally, globally, and spiritually was put on display for the whole world to see.  We’re on the downhill stretch for this momentous year.  When the history books are written, where will your place have been for this arduous year?  I hope your personal memoir will tell how in 2020 YOUR faith in God was known everywhere.  That all who know you will report of the kindness and love you show them.  That the world will see how YOU turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God.  And how you were living a life worthy of the one who paid it all for us.
