CSR Daily Devotion

Today my wife wanted to share a classic from Casting Crowns to pair perfectly with her devotion below. It’s a perfect pair like peanut butter and jelly, shrimp and grits, or Jesus and you!

23They only heard the report: “The man who formerly persecuted us is now preaching the faith he once tried to destroy.”  24And they praised God because of me.  (Galatians 1:23-24)

I’ve heard so often throughout my (almost) 35 years on this Earth that people do not change.  That is absolutely not true.  Paul is a prime example of the change that can occur when you choose to follow Jesus.  Paul went from persecuting Christians to being one of Christ’s most devoted followers.  We all have that person or people in our lives who desperately need the touch of God in order to better their lives and change their ways.  Pray from them continuously.  Forgive them when needed.  But do not give up on them.

I’ve witnessed the change first hand in my own life that comes from building a relationship with Jesus.  I’ve also witnessed it in the lives of people close to me.  Alcoholics have recovered.  People who once only cared about themselves and when they were going to get their next high from drugs are now serving in their church and following Jesus.  Maybe the person is you who needs the change. Maybe you feel overwhelmed at the thought of building a relationship with Jesus, that there is too much to learn, too many rules to follow.  Well it is really simple… Love God, love people.  Serve God, serve people.  Everything else will fall into place.

Reading plan:  Galatians 2

Deeper reading plan: Ecclesiastes 4, 5, 6

Prayer and meditation:  Pray for our country.  Pray for love to conquer all.  Pray that Christ infects our hearts and ignites a final fire of revival to sweep this land.

Fitness challenge:  Distance run day.  Run as far and as long as you want, but make sure you are out there pounding pavement for at least 30 minutes.
