18”But the things that come out of a person’s mouth come from the heart, and these defile them. 19For out of the heart come evil thoughts-murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander.  20These are what defile a person; but eating with unwashed hands does not defile them.”(Matthew 15:18-20)

In the beginning of Chapter 15 the Pharisees are seeking to smear Jesus’s reputation by challenging Him because His disciples did not wash their hands before they ate.  Jesus puts these teachers of the Hebrew law in check by setting the record straight and stating that no tradition or no religious diet makes a person righteous or wicked.  Rather, it’s what is in a person’s heart that determines where they stand with Jesus and God.  What’s in your heart?  Is your heart filled with love and compassion for the world around you?  Or are you filled with judgement and condemnation?

The challenge for this year is to fill you heart with love and joy, so that whatever comes out of you is a blessing to the world around you.  Are you spending your free time on social media spreading love or smearing discourse?  If you can’t go on the main social platforms without attacking others, stay off them.  Devote your free time to reading the Holy Bible and learning the Truth of Jesus’s word.  Devote your free time to helping others and serving in the community.  Tomorrow is our third Saturday of the year; if you are off work, I hope you have found a home to volunteer your time.  For many this is a long weekend, as we observe a legend of love and compassion.  More on that soon.

Prayer and meditation:  continue to pray for your request from day 1 and ask God to help you fill your heart with only love and joy this year.

Fitness challenge:  Third week of our 7×14 challenge.  Step it up and do two sets of the circuit (do all seven exercises and then repeat).
