Masterpiece, Part 3
10For we are God’s masterpiece, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. (Ephesians 2:10)
Today, sadly, we wrapped up Compassion Christian’s Kid’s Camp. We had one more day running eight groups through Laser Tag, then tear down and clean up. The kiddos’ parents got to come in and hear about all their children had been learning throughout the week. We checked all the kids out one last time, got the church set up for normal business this weekend, and said our good-byes. And just like that, all the fun is over, and we are back to life as normal. A lot has gone on in the world around us this week that I have joyfully ignored. A lot I could share that all the late-night talk-shows dove into throughout the last five days following the break-up between Musk and trump. The “big bombshell” was Musk confirming that trump was one of Jeffrey Epstein’s clients, which is something I warned this audience about prior to the election. This is not news to anyone with a shred of common sense. It is all quite ridiculous. While Kimmel, Colbert, The Daily Show all jumped on this news in epic comedic fashion, The MeidasTouch, put together a much more serious piece about what all this means.
Tomorrow, I return to my normal day job policing the streets of Savannah, GA. My wife said to me today as we wrapped up Kid’s Camp, “I wish I could do this every day as my job”, and I could not have agreed with her more. This week was so much fun. This week we poured into the next generation and saw absolute joy in their faces as they learned that having a relationship with Jesus Christ could be fun and exciting and the best time of their lives. And it should be. And it is. We are all masterpieces created by God and thanks to Jesus, we can have an intimate relationship with God during our time here on earth. We are created to do good works, and that should be our mission: to do the good work of bringing as many hearts as possible to know Jesus and to have a life-changing relationship with Him. I really wanted to share the video of all the kids doing the dance to Forrest Frank‘s “Your Ways Better” but I can not get it to embed properly in this post, so instead, I will just close by sharing Frank’s song one more time, as it was the anthem of camp, and quite possibly the anthem for the summer. His way is still better.
