Common Sense REBORN Devotion

Masterpiece, Part 2

35In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the LORD Jesus Himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.” (Acts 20:35)

We just wrapped up Day 4 of Kid’s Camp at Compassion Christian Church in Savannah, GA. Thursday has traditionally always been Water Day! Water Day is when the church rents seven, huge, inflatable water slides and the kids fill their activity hour with slipping and sliding, getting soaked, playing in bubbles, and even getting a Kona Ice cup. It is the easiest day for us Small Group volunteers, as we just monitor the slides and the outer perimeter to make sure no kiddo decides to make a break for the wood line.

As the day started, our incredible Kid’s Ministry leader gave her morning address, in which she shared a story from the previous day. The story that she shared was about a little girl who had gotten really upset because she had made the decision to get baptized. The little girl was emotional because her mom had never been baptized, and the little girl was worried she would not get to spend eternity with her mother. Our Ministry leader, Mrs. Reeder, used this opportunity to speak to the mother during pick up and in that conversation, the mother said she had been waiting for the right moment and right reason to be baptized, and that moment had come thanks to her daughter attending Kid’s Camp. Then Mrs. Reeder shared the above verse, which is exactly how I have been feeling this entire week. We have all felt much more blessed giving into this ministry. Every thank you I receive, I just want to tell that person thank you in return. Thank you for sharing their children with us so that we can lead them into an early relationship with Christ. Thank you for allowing us to have fun with them, while teaching them the Gospel truth that they are masterpieces created by God, for His purpose. Sure, I gave up a few vacation days to be off this entire week, but in return, I recharged my soul and saw a glimpse of Heaven. And as Phil Wickham sings in his new single, I am Homesick For Heaven.
