Calamity Coming

38Does not the Most High

send both calamity and good?

39Then why should we, mere humans, complain

when we are punished for our sins? (Lamentations 3:38-39)

I am currently reading Auschwitz: A New History. It is a gut-wrenching, eye-opening, thoroughly researched exploration into one of the darkest periods of humanity. I wish I had read this book before visiting Auschwitz. I knew it was important to visit that site to pay my respect for all that occurred there, but I had no idea of what stories those haunted brick walls held. I am quickly gaining a deeper understanding of how horrible mankind was to each other during the Holocaust. I am going to start sharing excerpts from that book because I think it is very important for us to know how evil people can be. For the last 80 years the world has pledged to never forget what happened in the Holocaust so we will never allow such crimes to be committed against a group of people again.

Over the next week, as I share some of the facts of Auschwitz that have really surprised me, I will show that, the world is once again sitting idly by as world powers repeat some of the same shameful actions as the on-start of the Great War. And if we sit by and let it happen, why should we complain when we are punished for our sins?

On a different note, the Christian Music scene dropped a plethora of amazing new music on Friday. I will post as much of that as possible to, hopefully, give you some hope in mankind. I want to start with this powerful anthem from Detroit Collection that reminds us, “even in the dark time, let Him love you.”
