Common Sense REBORN Devotion

February 2

7“Sir,” the invalid replied, “I have no one to help me into the pool when the water is stirred.  While I am trying to get in, someone else goes down ahead of me.”

8Then Jesus said to him, “Stand up!  Pick up your mat and walk!”  9At once the man was cured; he picked up his mat and walked.  (John 5:7-8, The Jesus Bible)

Good morning family.   The above verses were slightly altered from the Jesus Bible translation.  These verses come from when Jesus heals the man at the pool of Bethesda.  This pool in Jerusalem was believed to provide miracle healing when it began to bubble, but the pool would only heal the first person into the waters.  The paralytic man had attempted to reach the waters first for 38 years according to John’s Gospel.  Jesus walked in and healed the man.  This miracle was brought to life in beautiful clarity in Season 2 of The Chosen.  “The Perfect Opportunity” remains one of my favorite episodes thus far.

Well, in the Jesus Bible, Jesus does not say “Stand up” but rather “Get up.”  A simple grammatical difference.  I chose to use “stand” instead of “get” because “Stand up” is my new motto for the year.  Or rather “Stand. Up.”  If you want to know where I drew those two words from, click the image below and hear Pastor Steven Furtick’s prophetic words of motivation as he continues his month-long sermon over putting off the old self, and standing up as a new creation in Christ.  Pastor Furtick’s message is so, so good. I have nothing left on here to write, except to say again, click the image below and watch this Word, and be blessed.

To motivate you for your mission ahead, the song below is a great anthem from the worship team at Freedom Church, who hail from Raliegh, NC. These men seem to be a fun group looking to make energetic and exciting new worship sounds..  Stand.  Up.  Nothing is going to hold you down in 2023.
