Common Sense REBORN Devotion

December 9

And now, what does it all matter?  It matters more than anything else in the world.  The whole dance, or drama, or pattern of this three-Personal life is to be played out in each one of us:  or (putting it the other way round) each one of us has got to enter that pattern, take his place in that dance.  There is no other way to the happiness for which we were made.  Good things as well as bad, you know, are caught by a kind of infection.  If you want to get warm you must stand near the fire:  if you want to be wet you must get into the water.  If you want joy, power, peace, eternal life, you must get close to, or even into, the thing that has them… Once a man is united to God, how could he not live forever?  Once a man is separated from God, what can he do but wither and die?  (C.S. Lewis, “Mere Christianity” pg 176)

Greetings family.  I really enjoy the writings of C.S. Lewis from this chapter of Mere Christianity.  Titled “Good Infection”, Mr. Lewis paints a beautiful portrait of the three-person Trinity:  God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit.  Then he wraps up the chapter with the wonderful words above, plus a closing paragraph that breaks down the purpose of being a Christian in simplistic, potent words.  I will be sharing that with y’all on here tomorrow.

For today, I got a lot of media to share, starting with the sermon below by my favorite Pastor:  Pastor Steven Furtick.  I have not been listening to sermons like I should be, but I caught this past weekend’s and it was a much needed return to the Word.  Click below to hear for yourself.

I have been mentioning The Chosen a lot lately, and with good reason.  Season 3 begins streaming on Sunday, so you only have two days to binge watch Seasons 1 and 2.  If you are still on the fence about this series, the great Lindsey Stirling released another music video from her new album, Snow Waltz.  Her latest version of “O Holy Night” features snippets from The Chosen’s first two seasons.  Click this music video below.

And finally, as if one Christmas song was not enough (I actually can not get enough of Christmas music right now), I wanted to share Phil Wickham’s newest single.  Released way back in August, Mr. Wickham just could not wait for the world to get in the Christmas spirit.  He’s helped on this track with Ms. Anne Wilson, who we highlighted in our last post.  Enjoy.  May the joy of Christmas continue to bless you.  Just sixteen days away from celebrating the birth of our King!
