God is not that desperate king from “The Little Prince,” seeing every person as a potential subject. Instead, God sees every person as a potential heir to his glory, a bearer of his vitality and creativity. (Smith, Mandy. “Unfettered” pg 182)
Day 50 of Russia’s war on Ukraine. 50 days of brutal conflict. 50 days of tens of thousands of innocent lives lost due to Russia’s needless war. What a tragedy. What a disgrace the world has sat by and watched this unfold, a war that is now being correctly labeled as a “genocide” by President Biden.
Today is what is referred to as Maundy Thursday in the celebration of Holy Week. Thursday is the night Jesus gathered with his Disciples for the Last Supper. From that fateful final meal, Christianity gained the tradition of “Communion,” where millions take a piece of bread, and a cup of wine, eating and drinking in remembrance of Jesus’ broken body and spilled blood. Maundy Thursday began the longest day in humanity for Jesus as He went from the bittersweet final meal with His beloved friends out into the Garden of Gethsemane. It was in this Garden that Jesus would spend the night in prayer, preparing for the brutal hours ahead of Him as Roman guards took Him away to be beaten and tortured during the events of Good Friday. Take some time today to remember the importance of this historic day in the story of Easter. Break some bread. Drink some wine. Pray that the world comes to know the Prince of Peace on a personal level like never before.
Pastor Steven Furtick preached another amazing word from his unexpected series on the short Book of Ruth. Click the image below to listen to that good word.
A lot of amazing new music came out last Friday. This week has flown by, and it is hard to pick the final few amazing new tracks to share here, but I just realized Mosaic MSC released an entire album (listen to that here) with the release of this beautiful new single, so they win the prize. Well, you win, since you get to hear another wonderful set of great worship sounds!
