10I will take away the chariots from Ephraim
and the warhorses from Jerusalem,
and the battle bow will be broken.
He will proclaim peace to the nation.
His rule will extend from sea to sea
and from the River to the ends of the earth. (Zechariah 9:10)
Picking up from the verse where we left off yesterday, this verse above is the very next set of prophecies from Zechariah, where he writes about one coming to proclaim PEACE to the nation of Israel. The people of Israel have been in constant war with nations ever since Joshua led them into the Promised Land. Some of the conflicts God brought on them due to their lack of faith and obedience. Some conflicts God spurred them to battle to demonstrate His might for His chosen people. Well, all of that was to speak to all of humanity, to get their attention that there is one Creator, one God. And the next part of that plan was to send Jesus to Earth, the Son of God, to proclaim peace to the nation, and His rule, Christianity, would extend from sea to sea.
I can not always explain why tragedy befalls the world. I do not know if it is the work of God for a greater purpose, or the work of the devil to shake our faith. It is not my responsibility to know the answer to that question. My responsibility, what I will be judged for, is MY response. In the wake of this horrible natural disaster that hit the Midwest just four days ago, what is your response going to be?
Yesterday I listed a handful of charities that had their wheels spinning on Saturday morning. Today I went a little deeper and will be listing some local organizations. Click this link to see a good list of local charities around Mayfield, KY, the town hit the hardest, and how you can help them and what they need. Tomorrow I will have even more opportunities for you to step up and demonstrate to the world your faith in God, Jesus, and your fellow humans.
This song came on the radio as I was driving home to put this post together. I feel it is an important reminder to us all. God will turn this around. He is up to something. God is doing something. Right now. RIGHT NOW.
Right now is the time for you to be doing something as well. Below are current campaigns raising money that goes directly to the relief of Kentucky. And again, click here for the list from yesterday.
