Common Sense REBORN Daily Devotion

December 10

12“Tell him this is what the Lord Almighty says:  ‘Here is the man whose name is the Branch, and he will branch out from his place and build the temple of the Lord.’”  (Zechariah 6:12)

Happy Friyay Family!  Today is a very special Friday because we celebrate the birthday of PaPa Z today!  PaPa Z is the patriarch of the Z lineage, the shining example of living a humble, faithful life filled with loving on his children and grandchildren.  Happy Birthday PaPa!

I am working this weekend so I will not be back on here until Monday.  If you are keeping up with the Holy Bible reading, we are nearing the end of our year-long journey.  The Book of Revelation is full of vivid prophetic imagery that humanity has struggled to interpret since it was put into print.  Let me give y’all a secret:  we won’t know the truth of John’s final writing until we get to Heaven and hear the explanation from the source ourselves.  So don’t waste a moment of your life wondering when, or if, the events of Revelation will, or have, come to pass.  Focus on living your life so you can finish the race in the right place (I’m not talking about 1st, 2nd, or 3rd, by place I mean location…).

Just as confusing as the Apostle John’s writings is the Prophet Zechariah’s book.  Today’s short chapter depicts the four chariots emerging from the four corners to bring the Spirit of the Lord to the four regions surrounding Judea.  These images all have to do with the rebuilding of the Second Temple, which I wrote about yesterday.  But Zechariah’s prophecy carries much more weight than just prophesying about the Temple that will soon be built.  When I come back on Monday, we’ll be in the chapter that talks about the final Temple that will be ever be built for mankind.

Yesterday I listened to this week’s The Holy Post podcast, which is a collaboration with the creators of another podcast, called Love Thy Neighborhood.  This collaboration was to discuss “The Gospel and Fake News.”  Click the image below to listen to this very powerful and timely discussion.  Then go follow both podcasts wherever you listen to music.  I listened to a second Love Thy Neighborhood podcast and really love what this crew has to say.

It’s another New Music Friday and we have a handful of great new singles that surprisingly aren’t traditional Christmas music.  I’ll just start with the first name on Spotify’s list:  Mr. Mack Brock who released this wonderful new track below.

Reading plan:  Revelation 10; Zechariah 6
