June 6
22Cast your cares on the Lord
and he will sustain you;
he will never let
the righteous be shaken.
22But you, God, will bring down the wicked
into the pit of decay;
the bloodthirsty and deceitful
will not live out half their days.
But as for me, I trust in you. (Psalms 55:22, 23)
Today we remember “The Greatest Generation” on the 77th Anniversary of the most ambitious amphibious assault in human history. D-Day continues to be a solemn day of remembrance and observance as we take a moment to consider the bravery and brutality on the beaches of Normandy. Only a handful of D-Day veterans are still within the world today. Talk to your kids about the importance of this day and the bravery of those who fought to bring down the wicked Nazi regime into the pit of decay. Thank God for the brilliance of the Allied plan to gain a foothold in France and begin the push that would ultimately win the war and liberate Europe. I pray that the world never sees a war so evil again, and we can continue to recognize the events that unfolded during these dark days of humanity as the “last great war.”
