Common Sense Reborn

Sorry for the late post and for missing yesterday, I’ll explain tomorrow. But I wanted to get this out today to get us all caught up!

October 25

¹¹Dear friends, I urge you, as foreigners and exiles, to abstain from sinful desires, which wage war against your soul.  ¹²Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us.  (1 Peter 2:11, 12)

WE are all foreigners and exiles here on Earth.  Our true citizenship is that in Heaven, so we need to stop identifying ourselves by any race, nationality, or ethnicity but that we are Children of God, natural-born citizens of Christ.  So be proud of who you are and live a life so good that all the non-believers can not help but be drawn to your heart and your spirit.  That’s how you grow this church and truly glorify God.

Prayer and meditation:  Pray for our country.  Pray for love to conquer all.  Pray for peace and common sense to infect the minds of Americans.  Pray for civility and calm and for Christians to be a beacon of hope and consistency for all those who may face increased anxiety in this coming month.  Pray for revival that is permanent and world changing.

October 24

¹Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander of every kind.  ²Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, ³now that you have tasted that the Lord is good.  (1 Peter 2:1-3)

Jesus, Paul, the author of Hebrews, James, and now Peter all have preached the same message:  get rid of all the above.  As I mentioned yesterday, you have been born again.  Now, as a newborn babe growing in righteousness, Peter instructs “crave pure spiritual milk.”  I’m going to push you for even more.  If you have children, or if you are an influence to any young souls on this earth, do not waste any time making sure they grow with the right spiritual maturity.  If they can avoid having to be born again, and just live a righteous life right off the rip, then think of how blessed their entire life will be.  Bring them to taste that “pure spiritual milk” from an early age and they will grow up in salvation.
