CSR Daily Devotion

Happy Sunday Friends! I hope you spend the day worshiping the King of Kings, Yeshua, Jesus Christ!

October 18

1Now listen, you rich people, weep and wail because of the misery that is coming on you.  2Your wealth has rotted, and moths have eaten your clothes.  3Your gold and silver are corroded.  Their corrosion will testify against you and eat your flesh like fire.  You have hoarded wealth in the last days.  (James 5:1-3)

I know it feels like I am picking on the rich, or the successful in America.  I am not, but I feel like since it is written by every Apostle of the New Testament, and from our current culture, where we lift wealth up to such a high pedestal, it needs to be pointed out.  There is nothing wrong with success when we humbly acknowledge that our talents and drive all come from God.  Therefore if God equips us with certain skills and circumstances which allow us to use our personal drive and grit to achieve great feats in our professional careers.  So if that all comes from God, then any monetary wealth also comes from God, and therefore should be used how God sees fit.  And we all know God has a soft spot for the poor, sick, lonely, lost.  When America is the richest nation in the world yet has such a drastic disparity between the upper class and the lower class, then America is far off from being on the right course.  Give generously and you will see God continuously give generously back to you.

Reading plan:  1 Peter 3:13-22

Deeper reading plan:  Joel 2:12-27

Prayer and meditation:  Pray for our country.  Pray for love to conquer all.  Pray for peace and common sense to infect the minds of every American.  Pray for civility and calm in the next two weeks. Pray for Christians to be a beacon of hope and consistency for all those who may face increased anxiety in this election season.  Pray for revival that is permanent and world changing.

Fitness challenge:  RestWorship:  Spend today in prayer and worship.  Get to church or get to a computer and watch church.  America needs a revival like never before.
