Happy Worship Day Y’all! I hope everyone had a safe, fun, and thoughtful 4th of July. And I pray you all consider my request from yesterday, that we surrender our lives completely to Jesus. Trust me, when you do, it brings you into a new level of joy and happiness and gives you something to truly smile about.
July 5
13You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love. 14For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” (Galatians 5:13-14)
Love your neighbor as yourself. One of God’s greatest commandments. Yet, we still have trouble following it. Why? Because so many of us are self-seeking and care only about our own agendas. We get caught up and bent out of shape over the little details and we forget the bigger picture. Jesus died for us all. Not just the Republicans, or the Democrats, or the pastors or the missionaries…No, He died for every single one of us. Addicts, criminals, those with hate-filled hearts. He died because He loves every single one of us that much. We need to get that out of our own heads and start spreading that love around. Because if you’re a Jesus follower, that love lives in you. Instead of sharing passive aggressive posts on FaceBook bashing your opposing political party, or attacking anyone with different beliefs than you, sit down with them and seek to listen and understand. We may not agree with them, but Jesus doesn’t agree with everything we do either, yet He still loves us. Could you imagine a world where we all lived up to that commandment? It would be difficult to steal, harm, or lie to someone if we loved them as ourselves. God designed each of us differently, we all have different thoughts and opinions. Those differences are meant to bring us together, not tear us apart. We need to busy ourselves with lifting each other up and spreading love wherever we go. My challenge to you today is to speak loving words to at least five people that you come in contact with. Bonus points if it’s someone that you’d rather argue with and that you usually put down. This world needs a love bomb and it’s up to us to ignite it!
