Jesus Culture released a short EP last Friday that I was sleeping on. I’ll be sharing some of my favorite tracks this week from this powerful worship group, starting with this beautiful song below.
June 12
1Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God-this is your true and proper worship. 2Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is-his good, pleasing and perfect will. (Romans 12:1-1)
Paul gives us two important lessons about how to live in the verses above. Lesson one: offer your body as a living sacrifice. This is our “true and proper worship.” Lesson two: “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” Paul states plainly that we need to give our body and our mind over to Christ. But how do we do this? What does offering your body as a living sacrifice mean? This simply means that every day you take care of yourself and give yourself to the cause of Christ. Eat well, stay fit and healthy, work hard, and thank God everyday for the abilities you have been blessed with. Not everyone is as blessed as you are. There are many that are born with disabilities and limitations. And usually these are the people who are the most faithful to God and Jesus.
To not conform to the patterns of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that’s simple. Look at what is popular in the world today. Tik-Tok, Netflix, “Tiger King,” all mindless entertainment that does nothing to enrich your mind. You should always be doing more to learn and grow your mental capacity. Do not let what is popular in society waste the precious time you have to learn a new skill, a new craft, or something to specifically make your life better. But begin with the Bible. Read that, despite what the world says about the BIble being outdated and God being dead. Read and learn the BIble, renew your mind, bring dry bones to life. You’ll easily be able to see that God is not dead and He is living in and through you!
