40Peter sent them all out of the room; then he got down on his knees and prayed. Turning toward the dead woman, he said, “Tabitha, get up.” She opened her eyes, and seeing Peter she sat up. 41He took her by the hand and helped her to her feet. Then he called for the believers, especially the widows, and presented her to them alive. 42This became known all over Joppa, and many people believed in the Lord. 43Peter stayed in Joppa for some time with a tanner named Simon. (Acts 9:40-43)
Peter raises a disciple named Tabitha from the dead. The miracles of the Apostles continue. Peter has come full circle from his early days following Jesus. Now he acts boldly in Jesus’ name, performing many of the same miracles the Son of God was able to carry out.
I hope that you are feeling confident in your faith and abilities by now. We are getting closer and closer to the midway point of 2020. It’s been a year unlike any we have faced in a long time. When you look back on this year, I hope you can look back at someone who has progressed and grown just like Peter did. Let any doubt disappear. Step boldly forward and claim your birthright as a child of God. Bring the dead to life: dead dreams, dead relationships, dead hope. You can bring all of it back to life in the name of Jesus Christ. Speak life into dry bones. Drink and never be thirsty again.
Reading plan: Acts 15
Deeper reading plan: Esther 5, 6
Prayer and meditation: Pray for the sick, pray for the lost and their loved ones. Pray for redemption for this lost world. Pray for a reviving rattle to shake COVID off this planet. And continue to pray for all those in medical professions, grocery stores, supply chain operators, first responders, and the amazing teachers still doing all they can to teach the students they love so much. Pray for all the businesses trying to recover and keep their associates able to provide for their families. Pray that the world can reopen without a surge of new COVID outbreaks. And pray that the world has undergone a lasting change and the flame of revival has been lit!
Fitness challenge: Two exercises, 20 minutes of work. On the odd minute, you do that many burpees, so on minute 1-do 1 burpees, minute 3-3 burpees, and so on and so on until minute 19, when you have a minute to do 19 burpees. On the even numbers, same concept but jumping squats. The faster you complete the numbers of reps, the possibility you might have some rest time.
