Happy Earth Day! Many of you have been trapped in your homes, take some time to enjoy the fresh air of the outdoors. With less people out and driving around I love how the songbirds sing every morning and night. We have been gifted such a wonderful planet to live in, I do not understand why the human species has existed to destroy this beautiful place throughout our history. I find the greatest peace in the creations from God, mostly the environment. Focus your energy today at finding a way to make the natural world around you a little better. Find a stretch of roadway and pick up the trash other careless people just toss out of their cars. Plant some trees. Relax outdoors. Breath in the world God gifted us.
April 22-Earth Day
12When Jesus spoke again to the people he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
13The Pharisees challenged him, “Here you are, appearing as your own witness; your testimony is not valid.”
14Jesus answered, “Even if I testify on my own behalf, my testimony is valid, for I know where I came from and where I am going. But you have no idea where I come from or where I am going. 15You judge by human standards; I pass judgment on no one. 16But if I do judge, my decisions are ture, because I am not alone. I stand with the Father, who sent me. 17In your own Law it is written that the testimony of two witnesses is true. 18I am one who testifies for myself; my other witness is the Father, who sent me. (John 8:12-18)
Jesus is the light of the world. Are we doing all we can to keep that light shining brightly or are we trying to smother that flame?
Today is Earth Day, a day observed around the world, where we spend a few hours trying to make this precious planet a little cleaner. God created this world. He chose Earth out of the billions of planets He created to put His chosen people. America likes to debate whether we are alone in the universe. We certainly treat this planet like there are plenty of other worlds out there for our consumption. If we truly believed this planet was the only inhabitable world in the known universe, we would be acting a lot differently than we currently are to protect this precious third rock from the sun.
2020 is a great year to start making lasting changes to your routine that will help the world around you. I can not wait for the day when I will be able to switch to renewable energy in my home and transportation. If I could afford it now, I’d have enough solar panels on my roof to power my house and keep my electric cars charged. But unfortunately, I do not have the means to do so. The world does. We have the technology and resources to power most of this planet through renewable energy, we just have to support the progressive proponents for such change. Having a green energy agenda is not only the right thing to do for our home, it’s the right thing to do for God, who created this planet, not for our exploitation, but for us to thrive and survive in.
