41 “A certain moneylender had two debtors. One owed five hundred denarii, and the other fifty.
42 When they could not pay, he cancelled the debt of both. Now which of them will love him more?”
43 Simon answered, “The one, I suppose, for whom he cancelled the larger debt.” And he said to him, “You have judged rightly.”(Luke 7:41-43)
This verse has always been one of my favorite teaching moments from Jesus. The forgiveness of debt. Of course, when Jesus speaks of debt, He is not talking about money, but the debt of sin. We do not realize how deep our debt is. Most of us, no matter how much we try not to, we sin against God each and every day. We allow the world to influence our behavior, stress, and fear. We do not trust God for all we need. But no matter what, Jesus has washed all our mistakes away. So no matter how great your debt with God is, it is all forgiven by the blood of Jesus. Thank God for that!
