Manufactured Chaos

33“‘When a foreigner resides among you in your land, do not mistreat them. 34The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born. Love them as yourself, for you were foreigners in Egypt. I am the LORD your God.'” (Leviticus 19:33-34)

While I could continue diving into the manufactured chaos in the Middle-East, created by netanyahoo (I spelled that incorrectly on purpose) and donakd trump, I want to swing back to the other chaos trump has orchestrated since returning to office. Do not be fooled by this political stunt in Iran to boost his popularity. I believe it is becoming crystal clear why Israel chose to attack Iran out of nowhere, so trump could swoop in and look like the world’s hero by dropping bombs on Iran’s nuclear facilities. Now, I do not want to take anything away from what America displayed by being able to fly B-2 bombers from Missouri to Iran, make precision strikes, and be home within twenty-four hours. That part was extremely impressive. And it shows how a professional military operates, as opposed to Israel, who indiscriminately bombs and attacks their enemies by striking military and civilian targets with no remorse. This whole charade was probably cooked up by trump and netanyahu after trump was embarrassed at the G7 Summit and left pouting because no one gave him the attention he constantly craves. If it is attention trump years for, Diego Luna did a fantastic job reminding the audience of the Jimmy Kimmel Live! show of what kind of person is running America right now. Luna is filling in for Kimmel for the next four nights while Kimmel is out of vacation. He made the brave and bold decision to open the week with a moving monologue speaking about how America used to be a beacon of light for immigrants around the world. As an immigrant himself, Luna’s words hold powerful prose and is a much watch, which you can view by clicking the image below.

I decided to open with God’s reminder to the ancient Israeli’s on how we should treat foreigners. Way back in the Book of Leviticus (the third book of the Old Testament), Moses spoke the words above to the group of foreigners who had escaped slavery and bondage out of Egypt, crossed the Red Sea, and were now camping in the wilderness of Sinai. God’s words to the ancestors of what would eventually become the nation of Israel is the same command for us as followers of God: take care of the foreigner. Stop exploiting them. Stop rounding them up and shipping them back to their home country. Stop treating them as dogs. Start loving them. Start repairing our broken immigration system. And start treating them as Jesus commanded us to do. Stop chasing after these desperate people and start desperately chasing after the heart of God.
