Holy Week, Monday
12Jesus entered the temple courts and drove out all who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the benches of those selling doves. (Matthew 21:12)
On Monday, the day after Jesus rode a donkey triumphantly into Jerusalem, the Son of God entered the Temple and chased out the money changers with a whip. He overturned tables and benches in His frustration at how the Jews were seeking to prophet off of others misfortune and mistakes. His Father’s house had become a source of extortion and even greater evil than from the people attempting to atone for the sins they had committed. I have found a new favorite Christian apparel store at www.thehappygivers.com, and one of my favorite collections of theirs is the “Stop Trying to Sit” Collection. Below is the sticker for this collection:

This collection screams out to the Christians in America right now. There was only one type of table that Jesus sat at, and that was a table of sinners and outcasts. Our current society wants to sit at the table of power, wealth, and oppression. Too many Christians are trying to sit at the table with Christian Nationalists, with the party of the most divisive and destructive President to lead this country, and those seeking the futile pleasures of wealth and the world. These are the tables that Jesus would have flipped. Looking at our nation as a whole, Jesus is trying to flip it on its face right now. And I hope He succeeds. I have been far too quiet about the disgusting excuse of leadership in America right now. Frankly, there has been too much to even begin to discuss on here. And I have been too busy and tired to keep up with all the madness unfolding in the country I once loved, but I will get to that in due time. For today, just know that Jesus is walking into this country many are lifting up as a temple, and His hand is tightening around that whip.
