Common Sense REBORN Devotion

Hebrews, Part 3

6But Christ, as the Son, is in charge of God’s entire house. And we are God’s house, if we keep our courage and remain confident in our hope in Christ. (Hebrews 3:6)

The Author of Hebrews uses the third chapter to argue that Jesus is greater than Moses, which for most Christians, this is not even an argument that needs to be had. I mean, we see the importance of Moses. God used Moses to lead His people out of Egyptian slavery and worked some of the most incredible miracles in the process of that massive migration. Moses was the instrument God used to part the Red Sea. Moses was the instrument to deliver the Ten Commandments and the Laws for the Levite Priests. Moses was a faithful servant of the God of the Israelites and gave his entire heart and soul to try to lead an undeserving people to the Promised Land. Without Moses’ compassion for the Israelites, God would have destroyed them when they created a golden calf to worship at the base of Mount Sinai.

Now one greater than Moses, our High Prophet and True King, Jesus, has come to deliver the true heart of the Father (this can be learned by reading the Sermon on the Mount, the Gospels, and the letters of the New Testament). Jesus came to lead His followers out of the slavery of sin and the world. However, while we anxiously await Jesus’ glorious return, many Christians build their own golden calf to devote their worship to. As the verse above states, Jesus is in charge of God’s entire house, but is He in charge of YOUR entire house? Or is Jesus just limited to a drawer in your nightstand? Do you live your life where you let the heart of Jesus lead your actions? Your priorities? Your principles? You do not have to answer that question, I see it lived out in America every day, and the answer is a loud, resounding ‘no’.

Wealth, power, pride, arrogance, disrespect, bigotry, intolerance, violence, hatred, that is the common pulse of our great country right now. Why? Because most America’s chose to worship a golden cow instead of the Son of God. Get your house in order America, the true King is coming soon. In case you are unaware, when Jesus returns for the final time, it will not be as the compassionate, loving, merciful teacher, but as the victorious Warrior King, to call His Kingdom home and destroy all those who chose not to follow His teachings and build a true relationship with Him. Break free from the grip of the world and follow the one who is greater than any other being in creation. Follow Jesus and live as Jesus would live. Love as Jesus would love. Build a house on the cornerstone. Look at what the blood has done, and live a life worthy of that sacrifice.
