A House Divided
24“A kingdom divided by civil war will collapse. 25Similarly, a family splinte3red by feuding will fall apart.” (Mark 3:24-25)
Blessed Thursday to y’all. The two verses above come from when Jesus is accused of being possessed by demons, and that is where He gets His power to drive out demons. But Jesus rationalizes with His accusers that if He were possessed, He would be a house divided, filled with evil, but able to do good works. Also, it just would not make sense that if Jesus was possessed by demons, He would be driving out demons. If Jesus had been a tool for the devil, He would have been calling more demons into the minds of those around Him, instead of doing the opposite. The most common-sense explanation is usually the one that explains the truth.
Similarly, we as a nation stand as a house divided. The two major political parties of America have been pointing the finger at each other for the last two decades and failing to work together to make this nation a better place to live. The loudest mouths in the arena, the Republican party, are suddenly calling for a “cooling” of the political rhetoric after their precious golden calf was wounded in an attempted assassination over the weekend. I find it highly ironic that the party that supported the man who has spread more discord than anyone else is suddenly pleading with the nation to tone down the hateful rhetoric, yet they are failing to accept the blame that we are where we are because of their own actions. I keep seeing the AP News posting stories that the motive behind Thomas Matthew Crooks seems so hard to find. What are they talking about?! With the amount of evil that has come out of Donald Trump’s mouth since he first began running for office, why is it a surprise to anyone that someone would want to silence that hatred. That’s old school math. A person can only take so much trash out of someone’s mouth before someone stands up and punches them in the face to shut them up.
Now, I do not condone Crooks actions, as they are the horrific example of how someone allowed words to push them over the edge to extreme action. My prayer is that the nation just ignores the nonsense that comes out of Trump’s mouth and works together to heal this nation and become a country united together to deal with the bigger problems we as Americans face on a daily basis. The infighting we are seeing within our government is just a giant distraction for them to actually do their jobs of facing the major issues head on. Those major issues are the growing wealth disparity, the housing crisis, the public education crisis, the unending plague of crime in most major cities, and tackling global warming. All of these issues can be fixed if our leaders focused on them, instead of just playing the blame game and getting nothing accomplished.
We will never fix America if we do not remember where we get our strength from, and that only comes from God alone. In my reading of the Holy Bible, I am currently in the Book of Joshua in the Old Testament and reading how God was with the Israelites as they conquered the Promised Land. With each victory, Joshua gave all the credit of their conquests to God. God is still with us today and with Him in our corner, there is nothing we can not accomplish. God did it before, and He will do it again. Bodie released an amazing new single to remind us of all God has done in his life.
