Shifting Focus Part 2
2And God said to Moses, “I am Yahweh-‘The Lord.’ 3I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob as El-Shaddai-‘God Almighty’-but I did not reveal my name, Yahweh, to them. (Exodus 6:2-3)
Yahweh, the Creator of Heaven and Earth, appeared to Moses in a burning bush. The written words of the Holy Bible capture God’s work to make Himself known to the world and to save the world through Jesus Christ. The Greatest Commandment Jesus instructs His followers to practice is to love God with all your heart, mind, and soul (Matthew 22:35-40, Mark 12:28-31, Luke 10:25-28). Loving God with your entire being means that you love everything God creates: from your neighbor to this precious Earth around us. Yet, are we doing everything we can to protect our precious planet?
The first thing that stuck out to me when I landed in Poland were the amounts of wind turbines nestled everywhere around the countryside. Poland is aggressively pushing their country to be powered through renewable energy means. According to this article, 26% of Poland’s energy is currently from renewable energy. And with plans to double their wind energy output by 2030, Poland is definitely living out their values to love God with all their mind, body, and soul.

Once I arrived in Boleslawiec, I also noticed how many homes in this little Polish town that had solar panels installed on their roofs. While solar does not provide as much power for the Poles as they harness from the wind, it was refreshing to see so many homes actively seeking to free themselves from the clutches of big power companies.

While, I have not moved my family to solar power, it is in our near future. My current plans are to install a solar paneled carport (thus not damaging the integrity of my roof). Our next vehicles will be fully electric to cut down on our carbon footprint, and depending on how much power we generate from the carport, we will either install more panels on the roof, or just utilize the power from the driveway. My plan is for our home and vehicles to be completely powered by the sun by 2030, at the very latest. What’s your plan to go green? The United States currently only sits at 20% of energy coming from renewable resources, and while that is not far from Poland’s numbers, it could be, and should be, higher. If we want to be the greatest country in the world, we need to lead the way on protecting God’s greatest creations.
Yesterday, I shared the new release from Kim Walker-Smith, but I failed to mention that her new single was part of a terrific new album. That can be listened to by clicking here. And since I am writing about new albums, the new album from SEU Worship is a perfect collection to energize you through the summer. You can hear that work by clicking here, and preview the title track for the album by clicking the image below. God Bless!
