Writings on the Wall Part 6
7For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us POWER, love and SELF-DISCIPLINE. (2 Timothy 1:7)
Happy Weekend Y’all. I must be brief on here, we are about to make a day trip to see family, and I actually slept in. The “Writings on the Wall” for today comes from Paul’s second letter to his beloved pupil, Timothy. Second Timothy is a short, but powerful letter. It is infused with wise teachings and inspiring verses to embolden us to be brave in our pursuit of growing the Kingdom and sharing the Good News. Many have studied Second Timothy and written books, study guides, devotionals, just using the four quick chapters of Paul’s epistle as their source material. Beth Moore is one example, and you can find her “Entrusted” Study Guide by clicking here.
In the verse above, Paul references the same Spirit John alluded to in our verse from yesterday. The Holy Spirit, which Jesus promised would descend on His believers; and through the Baptism of John, the Holy Spirit would come to live in every individual. The Holy Spirit is not an entity that makes us timid, or weak, by subjecting to His power and purpose. As Paul writes, the Holy Spirit gives us POWER, teaches us how to love, and helps us maintain our self-discipline to live our lives the way Jesus commanded us to.
I apologize, for I must bring this post to an end. I once again, I have two little people begging for my attention, and they deserve every bit of it, so I will close this post as usual: with a new music release. This one comes from Shane & Shane, and is their “Creed”.
