Writings on the Wall Part 5
4Greater is He that is in me, than he that is in the world. (1 John 4:4)
Good morning y’all. Today’s Bible Verse Wall art is one that needs a little explanation. What John writes here is clever, simple, and very powerful. It is a tale of two “He’s”. In the first part of the verse, John writes “Greater is He that is in me”. John capitalizes the “He” in this part of the verse because John is referring to the Holy Spirit, the entity that dwells within all believers who accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, and are baptized in the name of the “Father, Son, and Holy Spirit”. The power of the Holy Spirit is greater than the power that comes from “he that is in the world”. Notice that John does not capitalize this “he”. This “he” is the one who rules the earth, the snake in paradise: lucifer, the fallen angel, who God has granted access in our world. Lucifer has, unfortunately, had much more control over the world around us than he really should, but we humans chose to give him all the power he has. God gifted us with the power of freewill, and, unfortunately, too many in this world would rather follow the ways of the dark one, because they do not want to follow the few rules of living a righteous life that God asks of His children. But, as John reminds us, the Holy Spirit is greater in us believers, than the power of satan in the world.
I have two more “wall-art” verses to share with y’all to close out this week. On Sunday, I will also share a picture of this great piece of scripture art Mrs. Z had added to our kitchen while I was on my “European Vacation” to Poland. It dawned on me yesterday that I cut short my sharing of J. Warner Wallace’s
“Cold-Case Christianity“. For anyone following this blog that might have been looking forward to more of Mr. Wallace’s writings, I apologize. You will just have to click the hyperlink to the book and read it for yourself. Mr. Wallace did an incredible job explaining the tools he collects for investigating cold-cases, how those tools translate to tools we need as defenders of the Christian Faith, and finally gives his defense for Christianity. What Mr. Wallace discovered when he was investigating the claims of Christianity included doing intensive research on the earliest historians who emerged throughout the Roman empire, Greece, and modern-day Turkey. I learned more about the early history of the Christian church, and the important figures who validated the truth of Jesus Christ as they sought to document what they knew was the most important moment in the history of human’s existence. I would take more time to share specifics about Mr. Wallace’s research, but I have a toddler wanting all my attention, so I need to wrap this post up. Which I will do by sharing the song below. Y’all have a blessed day!
